Syngenta make seeds, lawn, garden and crop protection products.

At the Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre we manufacture important crop protection products that help growers meet an ever increasing demand for food, feed and fuel.

Several of Syngenta’s important products are manufactured at Huddersfield for export worldwide. Herbicides such as Gramoxone®, Fusilade® and Reglone® are all manufactured on site, as well as the insecticides Karate® and Force®.

Each Apprenticeship has different training programmes:

  • Level 3 Science Industry Maintenance Technician (Electrical) Apprenticeship
  • Science Manufacturing Apprenticeship
  • Laboratory Scientist Higher Apprenticeship

Pay details: £16,000 per annum plus attractive benefits package.

Hours: Full time.

Qualification level required:

The entry criteria for each of our individual apprenticeship pathways is:

Science Maintenance Engineering

3 GCSE A*-C (Level 4-6 equivalent) including Science and ICT and/or Technical subjects

GSCE Grade B (Level 5-6 equivalent) in Mathematics and English

Science Manufacturing

3 GCSE A*-C (Level 4-6 equivalent) including Science and ICT and/or Technical subjects

GSCE Grade B (Level 5-6 equivalent) in Mathematics and English

Laboratory Scientist

A minimum of 104-112 UCAS points at A2 (grades BCC ) to include A-Level Grade C in Chemistry

A* – C (Level 4-6 equivalent) in Maths and English GCSE is also required

Minimum age: 16

Level 3 Science Industry Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

An opportunity is available at our award-wining Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre on the Level 3 Science Industry Maintenance Technician (SIMT) standard working alongside a world class team maintaining complex computer controlled manufacturing plant that provides engineering services to the Huddersfield Site 24/7 365 days a year.

Your role will be to maintain complex manufacturing plants to the highest safety, health and environmental standards and ensure they are available to deliver on promises we have made to the business.

You will be involved with preventative maintenance, planned maintenance, project work and breakdown response.

Laboratory Scientist Degree Apprenticeship

An opportunity is available at our award-wining Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre to carry out a Laboratory Scientist Degree Apprenticeship working with a world class team within our on-site laboratories.

Your role, as part of a flexible team, will be to carry out laboratory work, generating data to maintain and continuously improve the safe and efficient operation of our manufacturing processes. You will carry out chemical & environmental analysis, experimental chemistry & safety testing, using a variety of techniques and state of the art equipment. You will also analyse and interpret data, carry out problem solving, and report on your findings.

During the apprenticeship you will gain experience working within different laboratory environments supporting the diverse needs of the manufacturing site.

The academic element is based on distance learning in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University.

Your role, as part of a flexible team, will be to operate manufacturing plants to the highest safety, health and environmental standards, in support of the Huddersfield site manufacturing plan. You will be involved in operating and monitoring complex process control systems for manufacturing plant processes and carrying out analysis activities and basic first line maintenance.
